- 2..Installation
- 3..How do I access it
- 4..Pif File
- 5..Pif File (win95)
- 6..Mutiple Drives
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 1..Purpose
- Allows you to add another public directory to winpack's file
- server
-
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 2..Installation
- * Copy all files in \winpack\extern
- * Set up Z.Pif (Important) see note 4
- * Edit Z.CFG And put the root of your new pub directory
- It's currently set at D:\ARTY make sure there is no slash on
- the end of the directory!
- * Add the subdirectory temp from your winpack public directory.
- Thats nomrally \winpack\pub
- So you will now have a extra directory \winpack\pub\temp
-
- Thats It...
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 3..How do I access it
-
- Use /Z HELP for help from within winpack
-
- * /Z RESET If Z drive starts returning strange drives or miss behaving
-
- run this option which deletes Z.REP and causes the
- program to revert back to the root (z.cfg) directory
-
- * /Z CD <directory> Change directory
-
- Example /Z CD JPG
- /Z CD ..
-
- * /Z DIR <filespec) Get a directory listing
-
- Filespec could be *.zip default to *.*
-
- Directory listings limited to about 120 files
- due to the size of winpacks return buffer.
- Anyhow more than 120 would be alot on packet!
-
- * /Z YGET <filename> Get the file
-
- Example /Z YGET NICEPIC.JPG
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 4..The Pif File (This must be done!)
- You must set up the directory in the pif file this done by
- go into main window select the icon called pif editor
- open the file \winpack\extern\z.pif
- Set up the directory to z.exe it is currently
- c:\windows\winpack\extern and then save the file
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 5..Pif File (win95)
-
- To change the "PIF" in Win95, you need to browse to
- WINPACK\EXTERN\z.exe
- in "My Computer", right click on the icon and then use "Properties".
- To set the directory, you select the "Program" section of
- Properties.
-
- To get it to run minimised, you use the "Run" setting in the
- "Program" section, BUT you also need to go to the "Misc"
- section and uncheck "Always suspend" in the "Background" setting.
- Thanks to Roger G4IDE for the win95 bit
-
- Now iv got win95 I find it's easier to add the program pifedit.exe
- from win 3.1x and use that to edit the pif file.
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 6..Mutiple Drives
-
- ZDRIVE has been wrote in a way that allows the program filenames
- to be renamed. This means you can have mutiple drives by renaming
- the files. letters in the range A to Z excluding some characters.
-
- * For example to create an additional W drive
-
- go into the directory \winpack\extern
- then type..
-
- Copy Z.* W.*
- then set up W.cfg and W.pif
-
- Winpack Reserve letters. Do not use the following letters.
- B, D, H, G, M. T, Y
- There things like Bye Talk etc etc.
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------
